Fr. Joe serves as pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Church in the Tremont area of Cleveland. He was ordained in 1974 and has served not only Cleveland, but Chesterland, Lorain, Akron, and Strongsville. Since 1979, he has been the Interfaith Director of the Diocese of Cleveland and has helped develop connections between the Catholic Church and the other religious communities of greater Cleveland. He has served on the board of a number of nonprofit social service agencies. Fr. Joe has taught at Notre Dame and Ursuline Colleges. Ecumenism: The call to Unity in Jesus Christ. How the 20th century saw a movement of the Holy Spirit Among Protestants, Orthodox and Catholics to challenge how Christians saw each other and their churches. The Second Vatican Council made a break through in the self- understanding of the Catholic Church when it recognized that other Christian communities were connected to the Catholic Church in a real though imperfect communion. |
