Key Points of the Proposed Cleveland Living Wage Ordinance 1. Who will be affected?
Welfare-to-work program recipients are covered Workers must be paid at least the hourly equivalent of 110% of Federal poverty level income for a family of four (currently over $8.90) Workers must be given employer-paid family health coverage, based on what is provided in the City's contracts with its own workers Employers must guarantee not to interfere with workers' right to organize a union if they wish to have one 3. What about prevailing-wage rules? This ordinance will not countermand any prevailing-wage rule, nor will it be used to reduce wages or benefits in collective bargaining agreements. Any compensation that workers receive that is better than the living wage shall remain in force. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Please fill in this coupon and send it back, or call us (address and phone on reverse): Name__________________________________________________________ Organization_____________________________________________________ Address ________________________________________________________ City ________________________________State ____________ ZIP _______ Telephone(s) ____________________________________________________ [
