25th Anniversary Celebration Dinner Songs
IT'S A GRAND NIGHT FOR MEMORIES
It's a grand night for memories
The time just seems to flee
Since 'Seventy-Five' we've been so much alive
At good old St. Malachi.
Its a grand night for memories
The stars are bright above
We got here by faith and now we celebrate
Our twenty-five years of love!
Twenty-five years of love!
Maybe it's more than the meal, maybe the carpet looks worn.
Maybe it's more than the songs that we sing in the pew on Sunday morn.
Maybe it's more than the Church, Urban and Flats in our view.
Maybe the reason I'm feeling this way has something to do with YOU!
THANKS FOR THE MINISTRY
Thanks for the ministry, of meals on Monday nights, council meeting fights,
The Christmas Eves a-glowing with a million tiny lights. How lovely it was!
Thanks for the ministry, of picnic afternoons, swingy gospel tunes,
Motor trips with eager kids at times inopportune. How lovely it was!
Many's the time that we feasted, and many's the time that we fasted.
Oh well!, it's been swell, and we've lasted;
We did have fun, and got stuff done, so
Thanks for the ministry,
Of Malachi House and more, the Center and the Store.
It sometimes was a headache but it never was a bore,
So thank you so much.
Thanks for the ministry, for homilies sincere, for drying every tear,
For chuckles when the preacher said, "My birthday was LAST year." How lovely it was!
Thanks for the ministries, all those in liturgy, hospitality,
For writing, reporting, collating and stapling the newsletter endlessly. How lovely it was!
The bricks look like the Cathedral, and there's a green cross on our steeple,
But we know that the church is its people, And it's glorious how God blesses us, so
Thanks for the ministry, there's still so much to do,
Our work here isn't through, but think about those dreams and schemes that
Managed to come true and THANK YOU SO MUCH!
