The Children’s Liturgy of the Word is an age appropriate proclamation of the scripture readings for children 5 – 10 years old during the 9:00AM and 11:30AM Masses on Sunday. Children are invited to come forward at the beginning of the Liturgy of the Word and process out to a specially prepared space in the School building. A presider, music minister and another adult accompany the children and lead the worship service.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word is Mass and uses the Lectionary approved by the U.S Catholic Conference of Bishops for Children.
Volunteers needed for this ministry include presiders, cantors, trained adults to assist as needed, and sacristans. Skills needed for these various roles include the ability to proclaim and interpret the scripture for children, musical talent to lead the Psalm response in song and/or with an instrument, and understanding of church seasons for appropriate preparation of the worship space, and reliability.
