Generosity “at least as great”

In my last blog, I wrote, “Last month, the people of St. Malachi responded to the children and needy/ homeless men and women served by the Center with overflowing generosity.
Can our generosity be at least as great for the people of Haiti?”
St. Malachi has answered with a resounding, “Yes!”

This weekend, the people of St. Malachi donated $5,000 to assist the people of Haiti for relief and recovery aid provided through Catholic Relief Services!!

Although I would have to go back and check the response from the Christmas Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina appeals to confirm this, I believe this is the most we at St. Malachi have ever given for a special appeal.

This weekend, we read St. Paul: “If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it” (1 Cor. 12:26) We have seen and heard our brothers and sisters in their suffering and we have come to their aid.

We believe that we are the body of Christ and that “whatever you do to one of these least ones, you do to me. (Matthew 25: 40)
Today, this passage has been fulfilled in our midst. (cf. Luke 4: 21)
