St. Malachi at our Best!

This past week has shown St. Malachi at our best. Last Sunday, almost four dozen individuals & families distributed 672 fruit baskets to our neighbors; dozens of others donated to help meet the cost of the fruit baskets. Endangered Catholics? Maybe. Endangered Parishes – yes!

On Wednesday, The Plain Dealer reported that the group “Endangered Catholics” is calling for an immediate, diocesan-wide boycott of collections, withholding “any further financial contributions to any Roman Catholic Church until Bishop Richard Lennon agrees to mediation with each parish protesting its closing.” This is a tactic to leverage withholding contributions into negotiating power. Following months of hard work and dedication by over 100 volunteers, the new St. Malachi Parish opened its doors to the members so grateful that their Church was not closed down.  At the same time our hearts and prayers went out to St. Wendelin and other Parishes in our Diocese who are forced to close.
